GUSTAVO GONZÁLEZ BÁEZ – SENIOR ADVISOR
Gustavo González Báez is an attorney with more than 30 years of service in the Mexican government. Immediately prior to entering the private sector in 1999, he spent ten years representing the Mexican Attorney General's Office in Washington, D.C., where he was also the Minister for Criminal and Narcotics Affairs at the Mexican Embassy to the United States.
His work included, among other things, investigations and prosecutions in coordination with various criminal justice agencies in the United States and Canada, such as the FBI, DEA, ATF , U.S. Customs , the Department of Justice, the Department of State, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and multiple U.S. states including New York, California, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Florida.
Some of his duties included the selection, training and evaluation of police officers, investigators and prosecutors in Mexico, chosen by Gustavo in his capacity as a member of the Binational Legal Cooperation Committee and trained at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Una vez que dejó el sector público, hizo uso de su experiencia colaborando con varias firmas internacionales de investigación y consultoría de riesgos, por ejemplo DSFX, Decision Strategies y Kroll. Gustavo es también Socio Senior de la firma legal mexicana Vale, Levenberg, Velis, Ruiz, Quijano & González Báez.
He has been a Partner of the Transparency Group since 2008 and Managing Director of GEOSI, a Mexican research firm. In 2017 he joined VESTIGA as Senior Advisor.
